The Brown Sign Life
The idea began — as many do — on the road. The windows were down, so the radio was off, and I had just passed another brown sign for a state park in South Dakota. It hit me then that my summers, and many of my non-summers, are spent driving around, chasing those brown signs. I want to see things, learn things, do things, and I know there are others out there that feel the same way.
So why not try to create a community? And use it to also give back?
My idea is to come up with simple brown sign related items, such as stickers and t-shirts, and to send 20% (maybe more) of any profits to various causes. I’m starting with Expeditions in Education for any profits on this T-shirt during August and September, because I was participating in one of the STEAM in the Park teacher camps at the beginning of the road trip that sparked this whole thing. But I plan to switch it up, with the National Parks, State Parks, National Forests and others also being beneficiaries.
I hope you will join me on this ride, because brown signs bring us more joy than we may realize. They allow us to learn and grow. Live the Brown Sign Life.
